Many medical professionals call Ardmore home as the area is nestled between Wake Forest Baptist teaching hospital and Novant Hospital off Silas Creek Parkway. Established in 1900, Ardmore was among the first residential neighborhoods with Victorian and Craftsman style homes, and the first neighborhood in the city to have detached garages for the commuters. It boasts charm from the homes that line the streets and with events, such as Halloween trick-or-treating when they shut down streets for safety. The community is beautiful, especially in spring when blooming trees and bushes line nearly every street, and displays of tulips and daffodils add color.
Ardmore is a popular, established neighborhood in Winston-Salem with larger lots than newer construction and large mature trees. Whether a late-1920s cottage, a traditional home from the 1950s, or anything in between, the charm is undeniable. Some one-level homes with open layouts have living rooms that lead to formal dining rooms with french doors, and others boast wrap-around porches leading to brick patios overlooking fenced-in back yards; natural light shines through homes. Renovations vary from one home to another, so buyers may luck upon new cabinets and countertops in kitchens, updated flooring, or new windows. Vintage beauty abounds, and modern-day amenities are convenient. This neighborhood stretches approximately 6,000 acres, and its boundaries are Knollwood Street on the west by, Duke Street on the east, Queen Street on the north, and Ardsley Street on the south.
